So after a long time I finally got blog creation privileges from our admin and here goes my first blog.

This is regarding my purchase of a new PC and the bizarre problems I faced.

After a lot of researching and discussions with my brother whether I should go for a Xbox360,PS3 or a PC, I finally bought the PC I currently have (well, without all the extra HDDs and GPU) in Nov 2008. I was a PC guy all the way from 1997, when my father bought our first Pentium 1, and have never owned a console except my PSP which was bought for time pass while ......(hint: KESC).

I bought my PC from a small time shopkeeper who, when ordered, will go buy the components from Saddar and charge a small profit since the end user won't have to go to the main market. Many PGers ,I hope, know how much knowledge these shopkeepers possess regarding PC hardware. So I ordered the PC with the exact specs and got it tomorrow assembled and ready! I took it to my room with joy I cannot describe! I turned it on and barely after a few minutes and poof! goes the PSU. I had to get a used branded PSU next day from PG marketplace.

This was just the starting of a nightmare which ended five months later.
When I was installing applications every third app was giving an error due to which it couldn't be installed! After many retries, reinstallation of windows both XP and Vista (both by me and the idiot shopkeeper) and replacing of the hardware components, the shopkeeper insisted that the problem was in the apps and I, on the other hand, insisted that the problem was in the hardware. I remember that I posted a thread here at PG but the problem was so rare that nobody came close to guessing the real culprit.

After many diagnostics and four months, I concluded that the problem was in either the mobo or the processor. It took me another month to convince the shopkeeper to take it to his supplier, which he did and traced the problem to the processor. Sigh!! It got sent for the warranty and in its place I got a new shiny faultless processor!

But wait!! As many filmgoers would say: "Picture abhi baqi hai mere dost!!" I bought a GPU a week after getting the problem fixed but another problem emerged . The HDD I bought along with the PC died and got sent for the warranty and I received a week later.

Since no one has posted a blog worth reading in ages, I hope you will take your time reading this wall of text.

This was my first blog on the Internetz!!

That's all folks!

Since it was quite expensive compared to my past PCs, I was endlessly lectured and taunted by my parents that I was better off with a P4 which I previously had instead of this problematic piece of sh*t. This was the most challenging thing I faced during the whole turmoil.

    Heheheh Excellent Blog

You know this reminds me of my Electronics lab. The power source is often faulty, CRO, components (BJT,FET) and all hell broke lose when one day the resistor was found to be faulty And it takes hours to find out what the real problem is.

My sympathies are with you Ben because I can understand your frustration

I faced almost the same scenario with my First Gaming PC. So many problems and stuff...that I had it fora total of 2 years out of which 1 year I was not even able to use it, because of the problems. (Constant warranty claims, etc)

So I understand your frustration, The only thing different was I was taunted by my siblings, not my parents (Thankfully) Life is a bitch!

Now I just have 360, and nice lappy...pretty satisfied.

It didnt happen to my PC but with my graphic card, it temperature would rise to 100-120° C(am not joking). Then i found out that its built-in fan wasn't working. And i changed it 3 time than i got a fine one.
So as every one says life is a 'bitch' and full of craps.
