if it wasnt for the DS completely wiping the floor in terms of sheer sales, we might actually be able to say that the PSP is a good success.

In commemoration of the PSP's second birthday here in the states on Mar 24, GamePro profiles (http://www.gamepro.com/sony/psp/games/features/106330.shtml) 10 games they say you should either own or add to your library. LocoRoco and Lumines are at the top of the list including some honorable mentions. When the portable isn't flogging (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/11/sony-marketers-are-horrible-liars-pretend-to-run-fansite/) or trying to differentiate itself as a unique platform, it's busy selling a solid 25 million (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable) systems, more than any other non-Nintendo handheld to date.

Its total shipped, the actual sales is a bit low around 17 million, there was even this report that sony has overshipped so much retailers aren't just accepting any more shipments only 10,000 were shipped over the entire holidays in NA

That's the message retailers have, according to our sources, sent Sony. With sales of the PSP lagging (Sony's PSP hardware shipments to retailers last Fall were down 72 percent over the year before, only a meager 10,000 units in the U.S.), word is that a few big name retailers have given Sony a mandate: drop the price or they'll drop the system from their stores. Entirely. With shelf space at a premium, the expectation is for Sony to do something substantial to keep its hardware moving -- or else.

that's because the retailers already have a lot of PSPs they are selling there stock before accepting new shipments.

on its own the psp is doing pretty well still though, 40k or so units weekly in japan, and assuming higher numbers in europe.

40k or so units weekly in japan

lol , what drug are you on ?

its been a disappointment , the handheld market has grown so much that the ds is now the leader and beats home consoles in sales regularly.

psp really needs a huge redesign , i dont think a "new" psp is needed. its already powerful enough.

more then 40k only recently and yes i even said that its been doing fairly well THIS YEAR so far. Even last year its weekly average was like 25 to 30 k weekly. Not as good as the DS but good in its own right.
